ERICK MORILLO is back from the brink.
This year has seen him reclaim his throne as one of the finest House Music artists and DJs in the world. It comes after he went into self-imposed exile to face his demons of drink and drugs, and took time out from the merry-go-round to recover from the illness which almost destroyed him.
We caught up with Morillo at the start of his UK tour last week and in an exclusive chat he revealed how he fought back from an emotional darkness in which he attempted to take his own life. It is an inspiring tale and one he is keen to share to raise awareness of the pitfalls of club culture.
He was in great spirits describing his recovery to us, recalling personal highlights from an unforgettable summer at Space Ibiza this season and from years gone by as the club closed its doors for the last time.
He also talked about the process of putting the Space Ibiza 1989-2016 compilation together alongside Giorgio Moroder and Mark Brown and the resurgence of Subliminal Records and the slew of tracks that are doing the damage on the dance floor. As you will hear in the exclusive video below, his output is as prolific as ever and as clubbers at Egg in London where he performed last weekend can confirm, Erick Morillo is back with a bang!
