Jonas Blue has Ellie Goulding dancing to his new tune

The Fast Car producer reflects on the phenomenal success of Fast Car as his new single Perfect Strangers races up the singles chart

JONAS Blue is the mastermind producer behind the tropical house inspired version of Fast Car featuring Dakota which was released back in December and is still sitting in the top 40 of the official pop charts.

Yet another example of dance music inspired pop music dominating the charts, the success of Fast Car has been phenomenal. The single went platinum in the UK as well as hitting the number 1 spot in 21 countries. It picked up 350 million global streams and counting.

Jonas has gone from being completely unknown 6 months ago to having released the 38th most streamed song in the UK ever, ahead of heavy chart hitters like Ed Sheeran, Drake and Jason Derulo. It's also the 6th biggest selling/streamed single of 2016 but Jonas is taking it in his stride. He told Clubz:

"I'd say it's just about sunk in. We had a little party with my family and friends to celebrate how well the single has actually done and I got awarded a plaque which says Fast Car has now sold over 4 million copies as well as streamed 500 million times as well as multiple platinum and gold certifications. That for me really made it hit home and made me feel really happy knowing the record connected so well with everyone."

His follow up single, Perfect Strangers seems set to match the success of Fast Car and enter the top 5 this weekend. It's also picking up celebrity admirers such as Ellie Goulding who was filmed dancing to  the track on her Instagram page. Jonas says:

"Seeing Ellie dancing to Perfect Strangers was really amazing. I was actually in Italy at the time finishing a gig and my phone was going crazy. I then saw why! It's amazing how much can reach so many people especially artists who I really love and respect."

Even with such incredible success with Fast Car and the prospect of another smash on his hands, Jonas says he will be keeping his feet firmly on the ground. He told us:

"Although Fast Car did amazingly well I didn't look at it like 'oh, I've made it now', I looked at it as an energy and a force to help me make more great music in the studio hence why Perfect Strangers was made. I really don't take this position for granted, I've worked very hard to be here, however I feel it's my duty to keep delivering great music for all the fans around the world."
