Hundreds of panicked residents joined police in their hunt for the young lad, who remains missing.

Police Scotland confirmed water and dogs units as well as fire crews and a helicopter had been sent out to help with their search.

Cops urged locals to check their garages and sheds in case Carson had found shelter to keep warm.

But loved ones are fearing for the lad’s safety after temperatures plummeted overnight.

It’s understood Carson was last seen at a property in New Cumnock’s Afton Bridgend.

A BBC reporter revealed this morning that cops seized two motors in the area as they carry out enquiries.

She also told how kind-hearted local supermarket bosses had been handing out provisions to residents helping in the search.

And she added that at least ten cop vehicles were dotted around the town as investigations continue.
