Ukraine warned to brace for blackouts as brutal Russian missile strikes target energy facilities
UKRAINE was warned to brace for blackouts last night as Russian missile strikes continued to target energy facilities.
Emergency repairs were carried out on a Kyiv power installation after it was badly damaged in the latest bombing raid.
The attack plunged swathes of the capital city into darkness. No one was killed.
It comes days after Vladimir Putin unleashed the largest co-ordinated missile attacks since February’s invasion in revenge for the Kerch Bridge blast.
Ukraine’s state energy operator said power had been restored across the country — but called for rationing between the peak hours of 5pm and 11pm.
The plea was issued to Kyiv’s three million residents but extended to cover Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and Chernihiv.

Senior adviser Kyrylo Tymoshenko said: “If this advice is ignored, it will be necessary to take out the candles.”
The attacks are believed to have been carried out using Iranian-made drones and S-300 missiles. But Russian troops continue to be forced back by a counter-offensive in the east.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, addressing the nation on Defenders Day, said: “Russia has no chance. Because Ukraine is moving forward.”
Last night, a Russian female FSB agent and a top-ranking member of the Wagner private army defected to the West.
