The Black Friday 2016 discounts that you might not expect to find
MOST people think of Black Friday as the day to get a good deal on a TV or games console but, according to the experts, the best deals can be found in other products.
The people behind money saving website HotUKDeals have trawled through the best bargains bagged by its 1.5 million members over the last two years.
They found that there are bigger savings on offer across categories such as fashion, groceries and even holidays than on tech goods – on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Shoppers are still more likely to buy tech goods and, although these items have been discounted t00, shoppers could be missing out on deals elsewhere.

By looking at some 40,000 deals bagged by their members, HotUKDeals’ creators saw massive boosts for laptops and tablets (75%), TVs and speakers (67%), and consoles and games (66%) compared to the weeks before and after Black Friday.
While the average discounts on these items were good, they were still A LOT lower than across other the other categories.
Danny Munday, general manager of HotUKDeals, said: “Smart consumers will already be seeing Black Friday as a great chance to secure deals before inflationary effects hit.
“Even savvier consumers will find deals that are as strong, if not stronger, in other areas (not traditionally associated with Black Friday).
“Fashion is, in particular, a category to watch. Fashion sales are in decline after seven years of growth so retailers will need to compete – especially online – to attract customers.
“We’ve already seen huge PlayStation 4 discounts at the end of September and with the launch of the PS4 Pro on November 10, we expect to see much more in the way of gaming deals as retailers discount to capitalise on what has become a vital annual trading event.
“With so many deals available during this time, it’s easy to miss some and harder to know which ones are genuine deals.
“Consumers should check and compare prices and monitor comments on deal-sharing websites like HotUKDeals, where deal-savvy members share price histories and retailer experiences to ensure you’re paying the right price and for a quality item.”
