TV viewers were left in tears after A Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country paid an emotional tribute to presenter Jonnie Irwin, who passed away from cancer earlier this month.
Jonnie who died aged 50, had been diagnosed with lung cancer back in 2020 and had stepped down from presenting, to spend more time with his family.
Set in Manilva Spain the latest episode of Channel 4's A Place in the Sun, featured Danni Menzies helping guests to find their ideal home and concluded with a tribute that read: “In memory of Jonnie Irwin, 1973-2024.
The homage prompted an outpouring of emotion from fans on social media.
One wrote: “Choking back tears at seeing Jonnie Irwin on his final show and the tribute at the end! Rest well now Jonnie you fought the hard fight.”
However, others were disappointed that the channel didn’t dedicate the entire programme to his life.

“Really should have had an episode with Jonnie on today as a tribute.”
Another person added: “Am pleased they dedicated the show to Jonnie Irwin but being honest I’d have expected a programme based around him.”
The BBC's Escape to the Country also featured a moving montage of his best onscreen moments.
The married father of three was given the shocking news back in 2020, after she experienced blurred vision while driving.
Initially he was only given six months to live and had to break the devastating news to his wife, Jess and their three young children, Rex, 4 and three year old twins, Rafa and Cormac.
Recalling the heartbreaking moment he told his partner his devastating news, he said: "I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating. All I could do was apologise to her. I felt so responsible."
