A member of Laurent Koscielny’s entourage says arsenal star could be on the move
The Frenchman's posse member suggested that the Koscielny could be on the move to Marseille in the summer
ARSENAL'S Laurent Koscielny could be set for a shock transfer to Marseille, according to a member of his entourage.
Marseille are also known have an interest in persuading Kos' compatriot Olivier Giroud back to Ligue 1.
Since being taken over by American billionaire Frank McCourt at the start of the campaign the Ligue 1 club have been keen to splurge during transfer windows.
The 10-time French champions have already made high-profile signing this season, signing Dimitri Payet from West Ham and Patrice Evra from Juventus respectively.
When questioned over rumours linking the French international to Marseille, the source told Yahoo France:
"Why not? If Marseille can attract Dimitri Payet, Marseille can do the same with Laurent Koscielny."
There is still no evidence to suggest that the player is interested in a move that would see him leave the Emirates, but a transfer would be a huge loss for the Gunners.
Since joining the north London club in 2010 the 31-year-old has been a mainstay in their first team.
During this season alone Koscielny has already managed to rack up 36 appearances and two goals for Arsene Wenger's side.
While the former Lorient defender limped off injured in Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Manchester City, Wenger revealed in a press conference on Friday that a scan of his injury provided good news.
When asked how much time Koscielny will spend on the sidelines, Wenger said: "Shorter than expected."
"It is not a tendon (injury), no," he added.
However, he will miss Arsenal's home game against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
