TEM-MAN Birmingham boosted their survival hopes with victory over much-changed Huddersfield in Harry Redknapp's first game in charge.

Jonathan Grounds' header and Craig Gardner's late penalty saw off a Terriers side who rested players ahead of the play-offs.

Mark Hudson's seventh-minute foul on Che Adams gave Lukas Jutkiewicz a spot-kick that Huddersfield keeper Joel Coleman saved.

But Adams saw red 15 minutes later.

Grounds, though, nodded Birmingham in front four minutes before the interval.

Huddersfield made a double change midway through the second period, Aaron Mooy replacing Hudson and Sean Scannell coming on for Harry Bunn.

Gardner clinched Brum's vital win with a 76th minute penalty after Dean Whitehead impeded Jacques Maghoma.
