But a falling out with boss Jurgen Klopp led to his exile from Anfield and that could become full-time if Sam Allardyce stumps up the cash.

Palace are said to be willing to make the deal permanent - but the cost is a sticking point.

Should they need persuading though, bosses can look at the impact Sakho has had on the Selhurst Park side.

He has made eight appearances and the Eagles won five of the seven matches he completed.

Sakho won't feature again this season after going off with a knee ligament injury sustained against Spurs in April.

But he has been urged by team-mates to remain at the club - as well as chairman Steve Parish.

Striker Christian Benteke said: "I'm trying to persuade him to stay but we are not kidding ourselves, we know it's going to be tough.

"He's been brilliant and has made such a difference to us."
