The Queen and Prince Philip celebrate 70th wedding anniversary with new photograph

THE Queen and Prince Philip have celebrated 70 years together with this anniversary picture.

The royal couple were in good company as they posed in front of the Thomas Gainsborough’s paintings of George III and Queen Charlotte – who were famously devoted to each other for 57-years.

The Queen beamed in a cream day dress by Angela Kelly which was finished off with a ‘Scarab’ yellow gold brooch – a personal gift from the prince to the Queen in 1966.

The Duke of Edinburgh looked handsome in a smart three-piece suit.

The couple celebrate their official anniversary on Monday.

Matt Holyoak, who took the picture, said: “I feel very honoured and privileged to have been asked to contribute to this very special occasion.

“The Queen and the Duke were very happy and relaxed which made it a pleasure. I feel the images showcase their strength and unity”.

Just two days before the anniversary, the Queen was spotted horse riding in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
