HOW MAYA JAMA WENT FROM £1 CHICKEN DINNERS TO £2.5M FORTUNE, KARDASHIAN-STYLE BUSINESS AND £600K ‘GOLDEN TICKET’ TV JOB

She's gearing up to present the biggest show on telly and is worth an estimated £2.5million - but Love Island host Maya Jama came from nothing.

The star overcame a tough upbringing and lived off £1 chicken shop dinners when she first moved to London at 16 to follow her showbiz dream.

Maya began as a runner on Jump Off.TV, before progressing to a sports channel on Sky, and presenting shows on Rinse FM.

In 2014 she joined MTV on The Wrap Up, and in 2017 she hosted the Pre-Brit Awards Party - and the gigs kept getting bigger

Her big prime-time break came with Simon Cowell's show Walk the Line, but Love Island is her biggest deal to date, netting her around £600K.

On the side, Maya has a Kardashian-style business - MIJ - selling cosmetics and drinks.

She's also had two sell-out collections with PrettyLittleThing, modelled for JD Sports, and starred in a McDonald's ad.
