Megan has revealed the heartwarming reason that she took up running

MEGAN Jacoby is a record-breaking Hyrox athlete who took home a world title at the 2024 competition.

Budding sportster 

Megan has been interested in sport since her university days, where she was a middle-distance runner. 

Running races became second nature to her, but everything changed when COVID-19 shut down competitions across America.

She decided to be switch to power-lifting and gave CNN Sport a very simple answer about why she chose to switch sports.

Megan said: “I want to be hard to kill.”

Leap of faith

The runner became interested in Hyrox in 2022 and decided to put her athletic prowess to the test. 

This required taking a leap of faith, as Meg needed to devote a lot of time to training. 

She decided to quit her job and focus on athletics full-time. 

This meant she lost her income, making HYROX a big gamble for her.

Meg explained to the Morning Chalk Up that she had “no sponsors” when she left her job but “doors just started opening” when she put her all into training.

The athlete recommended that newcomers focus on running, before maintaining their strength through strenuous activity including swimming.

Taking home the title

Meg won big at the 2024 HYROX World Championship in June, when she took home the winning title in the women’s elite field category.

When she crossed the finish line, Meg became the first woman to beat a HYROX race in under an hour. 

The athlete was also met at the end of the race by her daughter, who is one of Meg’s biggest supporters and the reason that she carries on competing at HYROX.

Meg said: “My daughter has sacrificed just as much, if not more, than I have because she’s sacrificing a lot of time away from me so I can do what I need to do and be living my dream as an athlete,”

“It felt like it was all worth it.
