Matthijs de Ligt is a Dutch defender who plays for Manchester United and the Netherlands national team. He emerged at Ajax as a youngster under Erik ten Hag and was a key part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals that year, before signing for Juventus in 2019. De Ligt then joined Bayern Munich in 2022 and made 53 appearances, scoring five goals. Ten Hag convinced him to join United from Bayern in August 2024.
