Mohamed Salah injury boost with Egypt confident Liverpool ace WILL be fit for World Cup 2018
Distraught winger left Olympic Stadium in Kiev in a sling after being brought down by Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos
EGYPT are confident Mo Salah will be fit for the World Cup.
The distraught Liverpool winger left the Olympic Stadium in Kiev with his arm in a sling after hurting his shoulder in a clash with Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp said at the time: “He would have played on if anything was possible. He has gone for an X-Ray but it doesn’t look good.”
Salah, 25, immediately underwent scans and the Reds’ medical staff were left optimistic over his condition, according to Egypt’s national team doctor.
The Liverpool talisman was said to be “alarmed” at his shoulder injury and left the stadium crying, having also broken down in tears on the pitch.
Egypt’s official Twitter account quoted Dr Mohammed Abu Ola as giving the positive injury update.
Salah was replaced by Adam Lallana just 30 minutes in following a challenge with Ramos.
The Real captain dragged him to the ground moments earlier and Salah landed awkwardly on his shoulder.
He tried to play on but quickly realised his night was over, falling to the ground and crying.
Spain star Ramos, 32, has been blasted by fans who believe he intentionally set out to injure Liverpool’s key man.
The four-time Champions League winner tweeted: “Sometimes Football shows you it’s good side and other times the bad. Above All, we are fellow pros #GetWellSoon #MoSalah”
Egypt face Uruguay on June 15 before clashes against Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A.
Meanwhile, Dani Carvajal is sweating over his World Cup dreams after leaving the pitch just shortly after Salah.
The Spain right-back, 26, was also crying as he suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin could replace him in the squad, with their first game coming against Portugal on June 15.
