GERARD PIQUE had to split Sergio Ramos and the Spanish FA chief up to prevent them coming to blows, according to reports in Spain.
Luis Rubiales controversially sacked manager Julen Lopetegui following his decision to become Real Madrid manager after the World Cup without informing them.
OK Diario director Eduardo Inda explained: "The two squared up.
"No one lashed out but everything was voiced. There was shouting from both sides.

"The level of tension was huge. Gerard Pique had to intervene and mediate so that things did not escalate."
He adds that Rubiales was particularly angry at hearing from the media that Lopetegui would be staying on and finding out the players had leaked this message to put the pressure on and ensure it would happen.
The Spanish FA chief demanded an explanation from Ramos and things became heated.
However, after Pique's intervention, the two shared a hug and the tension was eased.
