World Cup 2018: Toby Alderweireld insists Manchester United speculation will not distract Belgium’s bid for glory
Defender insists he is fully focused on the job despite looking odds-on to leave North London with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea monitoring his situation
TOBY ALDERWEIRELD insists his uncertain Tottenham future will not be a distraction for him at the World Cup.
The Belgian centre-half has two years left on his Spurs contract but is expected to leave this summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all keen.
But Alderweireld, 29, is not concerned that his situation has not been resolved before Belgium start their tournament campaign on Monday.
He said: "I have no problem with that because I am 100 per cent focused on Belgium.
"It's a dream come true to play for Belgium at a World Cup.
"So I am focused on the World Cup, that's all. There is nothing else on mind."

Alderweireld will have to stop his Spurs team-mate Harry Kane when Belgium meet England in their final Group G game on June 28.
And the defender is backing Kane to thrive as Three Lions skipper - and end his international tournament duck.
The Spurs striker failed to score in three games at the Under-21s Euros in 2015, then four matches at Euro 2016.
But Alderweireld admitted: "He will score everywhere, he is one of the best strikers in the world.
"I only hope - and I think - he will not score against us! We will do our best.
"He is an unbelievable striker and I don't think the captaincy will be pressure for him.
"It will only give him more confidence to achieve even more and perform the way he wants."
Alderweireld, though, has warned England that their own captain, Eden Hazard, is in the form of his life.
He added: "I've never seen Eden as good as I do now.
"Hopefully he can keep that shape for a while because the opponents are frightened by him.
"Would I compare Eden with someone at Tottenham? No, because he has his specific style of playing.
"But a player like Kane also has so many qualities."
