Who is Marvin Plattenhardt?
A GIFTED full-back, Plattenhardt has appeared for Germany at five different age groups.
Born in January 1992, he began his career with Frickenhausen, before spells in the lower leagues with FV Nürtingen and fifth-tier side SSV Reutlingen 05.
His talent was spotted in 2008 by Nurnberg, who bedded him in using their reserve side before establishing him as a regular starter at left-back.
After impressing, he made the switch to the capital and Hertha Berlin, who snapped him up on a three-year deal in 2014.
Known as a free-kick specialist, Plattenhardt has gone on to play over 100 times for the Bundesliga side - and has attracted strong interest from Premier League clubs.
When did he first play for Germany?
GOING into the World Cup in Russia, Plattenhardt has six full caps for Germany.
He appeared in every age group between under-17 and under-21 level, before finally making his senior bow on June 6, 2017 against Denmark.
He was named in the 23-man squad as Germany look to defend their world title - and started the first game against Mexico.
