As the Swiss look to improve on their last-16 finish in 2014, boss Petkovic is drawing comparisons with rugby coach
SWITZERLAND boss Vladimir Petkovic is looking to lead his side to World Cup glory in Russia.
The Bosnian-born coach has a wealth of talent at his disposal and led his side through a tough group including Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica.
Who is Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic?
A JOURNEYMAN midfielder, Petkovic spent twenty years as a player in Bosnia, Switzerland and Slovenia.
Born in 1963, he hung up his boots in 1999, turned his attention to management and began his post-playing career at lower-league side Malcantone Agno.
Spells all over Switzerland followed, including at Bellizona, Young Boys and Sion, before two years at Lazio where he won the Coppa Italia.
He became boss of the Swiss national side in 2014 and leads them this summer in Russia – where plenty have spotted the uncanny resemblance between him and Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland.
