MEXICO are enjoying a honeymoon period after toppling Germany.

And one fan can now plan his own - after proposing to his girlfriend as they celebrated the famous World Cup win.

A cheering crowd encircled the couple in Moscow as he got down on one knee with smiling lips and pleading eyes.

His partner bent down to say yes without words, kissing and hug him tightly.

Cue cheering and chanting from their already-euphoric compatriots around them.

As the pair embraced, both wearing green Mexico shirts, the woman kept a strong hold on an empty beer glass.

And itt was that sort of determination that saw her heroes through to an engaging victory.

Hirving Lozano jinked though for a thumping opener against Germany on 35 minutes.

But after that Mexico supporters had to wait for joy far longer than the man who proposed - as the world champions powered back at them in the second half.

And after the Central Americans successfully held on, the newly-betrothed couple were not the only ones moved to tears.

West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, who helped set up the only goal, was dewy-eyed at the historic achievement.

Matchwinner "Chucky" Lozano said: "I would have to agree it is the best goal I have scored in my life.

"We all dream of playing in the World Cup."

Meanwhile, Germany coach Joachim Low said: "We will not fall apart and lose our heads and do something different.

Mexico chief Juan Carlos Osorio said: "We showed we have a bright future and I am very satisfied with what we did.
