World Cup 2018: Colombia vs Japan prediction, team line-ups and preview as Spurs’ Davinson Sanchez takes on ex-Man Utd star Shinji Kagawa
The South Americans won a thriller at the last tournament 4-1 - while Japan are desperate to put together a strong showing after a disappointing campaign in Brazil
THE last meeting between these two sides was a classic group stage clash at the 2014 World Cup, with Colombia coming out 4-1 winners.
The South Americans have long been known for their flair - while rarely challenging the big boys on the ultimate stage.
Japan, meanwhile, have been at every World Cup since 1998.
But they crashed out early on in Brazil four years ago without winning a game and this time are counting on a wide open group.
KEY BATTLES: Former Manchester United ace Shinji Kagawa will be looking to show his trickery and get the better of Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez.
Sanchez made 29 appearances in his debut season in the Prem last year, impressing with his strength and pace at the back.
WEAKEST LINK: Japan’s attacking support of Keisuke Honda (32), Takashi Inui (30), and Kagawa (29) certainly don't have youth on their side and lack the pace needed to take on a team like Colombia on the counter attack.
BEST BET: With Colombia drawing five out of their last nine games and struggling to finish teams off, is very reasonable indeed.
PREM TSAR IN THE MAKING: Colombian centre back Yerry Mina is a real talent after completing a move to Barcelona in January.
His huge frame and slick passing means he could mix it with the physicality over in England in the future.

THE STAT THAT MATTERS: None of Colombia’s 18 games at the World Cup have ended goalless.
In fact, only the USA (33) and Austria (29) have played more games in the competition without ever registering a 0-0.
