England World Cup fair play table: Yellow and red cards info explained ahead of England vs Belgium tonight
The Three Lions head into their final group game, knowing a draw could be enough to progress as Group G winners
ENGLAND head into their final Group G match top of the table and with their place already booked in the knockout stages.
But whether they finish first could come down to a series of permutations, with their disciplinary record possibly holding the key to a favourable draw.
Why England will finish ahead of Belgium with a draw?
The Three Lions currently lead Group G ahead of Belgium by a single yellow card.
With points, goal difference and goals scored all the same between the two nations, it falls to their fair play records to decide who leads with points deducted depending on the severity.
England currently has two yellow cards, meaning they would lose two points, while the Red Devils earned three cautions in their first match against Panama, leaving them on minus three.
Should the two sides draw to each other in their final game and no cards are shown, the Three Lions would claim first in the group and face the runners-up from Group H.
When is England vs Belgium?
Gareth Southgate's men take on the Red Devils on Thursday, June 28.
The game kicks off at 7pm.
It takes place at Kaliningrad Stadium.
For UK viewers, you can watch the match on ITV.
