World Cup 2018: Media slams Joachim Low’s side as ‘biggest disgrace in German World Cup history’
Germany lost 2-0 to South Korea as they finished bottom of Group F after losing two of their three games
GERMANY have been branded as the "biggest disgrace in World Cup history" by their own media following their 2-0 defeat against South Korea.
It is the first time Joachim Low has failed to guide his side into at least the semi-finals of a major tournament after crashing out in the group stages.
Stoppage time goals from Young-gwon Kim and Heung-min Son condemned Germany to bottom spot in Group F after two losses in three games.
German newspaper lambasted the performance of the side against their Asian opponents today, declaring them as an embarrassment.
They started off by declaring: "This is the biggest disgrace of German World Cup history! For the first time our team fails in a preliminary round.
"The 2-0 defeat against South Korea is the embarrassing end of a catastrophic group. A nightmare."
While also stressed it was Germany's biggest ever disappointment at a World Cup.
They stated it was "the biggest German debacle in World Cup history."
Before adding: "What hardly anyone had considered possible, is bitter reality: The world champion is eliminated in the preliminary round."
Speaking after the match - Mats Hummels - who missed a string of opportunities, said: "We believed until the very end - even after going 1-0 down. But we did not put the ball in the goal.

"We had enough opportunities. That broke our neck today. Apart from Belgium and England, every favourite has big problems because the smaller teams do that very well.
"The last convincing game we delivered was in March 2017. That was a bit long ago. From the 65th we went wild, got incredible counterattack. We also lost the train to the goal.
"If I make that in the 86th minute, we'll talk about how awesome it is that we've got on. Unfortunately we are talking about something else. A very, very bitter day for all German football fans."
