South Korea's 2-0 victory over Germany put the holders out and Mexico through

MEXICAN fans have shown their appreciation to South Korea — by throwing one of their supporters in the air in celebration.

South Korea's 2-0 win over holders Germany sent Mexico through to the knockouts as runners up in Group F.

Despite watching their side lose 3-0 to Sweden, Mexican fans were in jubilant mood when they saw a South Korean supporter outside the ground.

They lifted the man, who was holding a Swedish flag, up on their shoulders and threw him into the air.

Mexico would have been eliminated had Germany won their game against South Korea.

But Kim Young-Gwon and Tottenham's Son Heung-Min scored in injury time to down the holders.

In Ekaterinburg, Ludwig Augustinsson, Andreas Granqvist and a Edson Álvarez own-goal saw Sweden ease past Mexico.

Mexico will now face the winner of Group E on Monday.

That will be either Brazil, Switzerland or Serbia.

Sweden go through as group winners and will play the runners up from Group E in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.
