Who is Benjamin Pavard? France star starts against Uruguay after wondergoal against Argentina
The 22-year-old is on his way to a first major tournament after being named in the 23-man French squad for Russia
FRANCE are seeking their first World Cup triumph in 20 years this summer.
Their squad is packed full of young, exiciting talent - including right-back Benjamin Pavard, who caught the eye with a wondergoal against Argentina.
Who is Benjamin Pavard?
BORN in Maubeuge in 1996, Pavard began his youth career with US Jeumont.
After impressing, he was snapped up by Lille and rose through the ranks with the Ligue 1 club.
A rampaging full-back but also able to play at centre-back, Pavard likes to get forward and has a rocket of a shot.
His performances at Lille attracted the attention of then Bundesliga.2 club Stuttgart, who came in for the Frenchman in August 2016.
He signed a four-year deal with the German side and has since gone on to make over 50 appearances.
Pavard has featured for the French under-19 and under-21 squads - and scored one of the goal of the season contenders against Argentina in the last-16 World Cup clash against Argentina.
When did he make his French debut?
FOLLOWING his exploits for Stuttgart, the French national side called Pavard up for his first cap late last year.
He made his debut against Wales on November 10 before being called up for the World Cup in Russia.
