Have England been preparing for penalties?

Southgate admitted that he has spent 22 years working out how to take the perfect penalty.

The former Middlesbrough chief missed from the spot against Germany at Euro 96 and has been haunted by it ever since.

He said: “It’s not about luck, it’s about performing a skill under pressure.

“There are individual things you can work, we have studied it.
