They faced each other in 1998, with a Lillian Thuram brace enough to beat Croatia 2-1 in the semi-finals.

Les Bleus went on to be Brazil in the final to claim their first title and on home soil.

That was the inaugural meeting between the two nations, who have played each other just five times in their history.
