The Croatian side of 1998 was built around his strengths - and his six goals in the tournament fired them to a semi-final against the hosts.

In the domestic game, he starred for Sevilla, Real Madrid and to a lesser extend West Ham in a 17-year career.

How many goals did he score for Croatia?

SUKER played twice for Yugoslavia before its break-up in 1990.

For Croatia, he gained 69 caps and netted 45 times.

When did he retire?

AFTER an illustrious career, Suker hung up his boots in 2003.

He had ended his international career a year earlier after the 2002 World CUp.

Currently he is president of the Croatian Football Federation.
