France star Adil Rami announces retirement after winning World Cup having been cheered on by Pamela Anderson in Russia
Rami did not see a minute's action for his country who become world champions for the second time after beating Croatia in Moscow
ADIL RAMI has retired from international football after France’s World Cup triumph.
The Marseille defender was an unused sub as Les Bleus beat Croatia 4-2 to become World champions for the second time in their history.
Rami, 32, with 35 caps for his country did not feature for Didier Deschamps’ side in Russia, but insisted the unity within the squad is the best he has seen since his debut eight years ago.
He said: “I have never seen a French squad with such a good atmosphere.
"Our country deserves this. Everyone today gets to party. I don't know how to explain it."
Rami was full of praise for Paul Pogba who scored the decisive third goal for France at the Luzhniki stadium.

The Manchester United midfielder was under huge pressure to produce for his country this summer, with some critics and fans calling for Deschamps to axe him before the tournament.
Rami told L’Equipe: “I can tell you that Paul Pogba, I don't know how and I don't know from where has become a leader.
"He was the strong man of the France team.
“Defensively he helped the team. I could talk about everyone, but today, Paul showed maturity.
"His technique is good, but it's the attitude that is the most important.
“He proved it to us, he showed it, he's a technical player, he has a lot of talent.
He was able to battle defensively. Everyone loves players who do tricks, nutmegs, flicks.
“You sweat, you give your body to the cause. There are matches where you have to roll your sleeves up. Some people have understood that and him especially.”
