France star Adil Rami announces retirement after winning World Cup having been cheered on by Pamela Anderson in Russia

Rami did not see a minute's action for his country who become world champions for the second time after beating Croatia in Moscow

ADIL RAMI has retired from international football after France’s World Cup triumph.

The Marseille defender was an unused sub as Les Bleus beat Croatia 4-2 to become World champions for the second time in their history.

Rami, 32, with 35 caps for his country did not feature for Didier Deschamps’ side in Russia, but insisted the unity within the squad is the best he has seen since his debut eight years ago.

He said: “I have never seen a French squad with such a good atmosphere.

"Our country deserves this. Everyone today gets to party. I don't know how to explain it."

Rami was full of praise for Paul Pogba who scored the decisive third goal for France at the Luzhniki stadium.
