However, while appearing on stage in his play A Little Life back in March, James' nude images were leaked online.

The 37-year-old has now spoken of the incident - and revealed the support he received.

He said: “There was one unfortunate moment where I was objectified, and the photos were taken and it was put in the tabloid press."

He continued to the BBC: “What was incredibly encouraging and sort of heartwarming about that experience was the way the community, the theatre community and also just the wider community - people who were aware of it - really came together and said ‘this is just not appropriate at all’."

During the performance James strips and bares all on stage.

Theatre-goers are warned to expect nudity before James' show - with stickers also being handed out to cover cameras.

Despite the measures, images of James naked were circulated online.

Meanwhile, Norton's next on screen role could be playing James Bond, according to bookies.

With his chiseled jaw, and Englishman good looks, James has been a hot contender for the next 007 for many years.

However, he has previously told people "not to bet on him" to play Bond, as he doubts he would get the role.

But his thoroughly British Cambridge education stands James in good stead to take on the role of smoothly-spoken Bond.

In December 2019, James gave an intriguing interview in which he spoke about downing strong martinis — 007’s signature cocktail, which has fuelled speculation he was dropping hints about the role.
